There will be an extraordinary general meeting of the Arklow Rocks club on Friday the 17th of February at 7.30pm at the clubhouse. All committee members are required to attend. All member need to attend in the interest of the club.
The ARP Juniors, following hard work from Danny and Derek O'Leary over the year have got the team into the Jr C final after a great display against an good Glenealy C side. The win comes at the perfect time, the Rocks priming themselves during the season against good opposition. Goals from Colin Byrne and a string of points from Danny Curran helped the Rocks on their way to a 3-10 to 0-10 victory. Up at halftime, the Rocks suffered an onslaught by Glenealy, but instead of collapsing in on themselves, drove on and got great chances. Well done lads.
In their first match of the Championship Arklow had a resounding win over Aughrim in Avoca tonight. Both teams fought hard for every ball but Arklow came out winners with a brilliant display put on by the girls. It was a huge team performance with the girls showcasing everything they have been working on over the last few weeks, the many supporters who turned up did not go away disappointed with six goals from Katie Reilly and one from Lisa Mellon and points from Ciara McClean, Lorraine Bracken, Sam Kelly, Danielle Brauders, Deirdre Ryan and Nicole Kavanagh.
This was a huge success for us last year so keep Friday, July 1st free for an event not to be missed! Have you got 'The Rock Factor' or would you enjoy a great night out with guaranteed fun and lots of laughs. We will have surprise Judges for our Hurling vs Camogie Challenge and lots lots more!!
Arklow's undefeated streak was ended today by Avoca on a beautiful sunny day perfect for Camogie. Avoca converted all their chances into points even though Arklow controlled the majority of the game they were unable to finish to the net on many occasions. This was proven by only one point on the scoreboard at halftime.
The U-13 Team played their first competitive match against Aughrim on the Rock’s Pitch on Friday 8th of April. It was great to see such huge support for the girls who put on an exceptional performance for their first match, they had a number of chances as they dominated possession in both halves but in the end they lost on a score line of 0:00 to 3:00. The girls continue their training on Wednesdays from 5pm and Saturdays from 12 pm and they are now looking forward to their next match on Friday, 29th April against Annacurra.
The Rocks lost a heartbreaker in the final match of the Leinster league to neighbouring county rivals Bannow/Ballymitty.
Arklow faced Avondale after a three week break and from the first they took the fight to the opposition. It was a exceptional game by the whole team with passing and blocking at 100%. The girls finished the first half at one point to nil having missed many chances but they turned the game around in the second half when they put two goals and another point on the scoreboard.
For their first home match, the Rocks came up against a good intermediate team from Meath. It was filled with controversy and intense action throughout.
